HealthTrack
A health companion mobile app that brings fitness tracking, nutrition logging, vitals monitoring, and live doctor consultations into one experience that people genuinely want to open every morning.
The Project
Managing your health should not require switching between five different apps that have no idea what the others are tracking. The client came to us with a clear vision for HealthTrack: one thoughtfully built mobile app where workout progress connects to your nutrition goals, sleep quality shapes your recovery plan, and booking time with a coach or doctor takes seconds rather than days.
We took that idea seriously and built something that feels personal from the first screen. Not clinical. Not overwhelming. A product that genuinely feels like it is working for you.
The App in Action
Designed to feel light and intuitive while handling complex health data behind the scenes

Making health data feel empowering rather than overwhelming
The brief covered a lot of ground. Calorie and meal tracking, workout logging, heart rate and sleep monitoring, stress levels, hydration, and a built-in way for users to connect with healthcare professionals and personal coaches directly inside the app.
The feature list was manageable. The harder problem was emotional. Health data has a way of making people feel judged rather than supported, and that feeling is exactly what causes apps to be deleted in the first week. Every design and product decision we made was tested against one simple question: does this make someone feel capable or anxious?
Any product handling personal health information also carries real compliance responsibilities. HIPAA considerations shaped our architecture from day one, covering how data is stored, transmitted, and accessed. That was not a checkbox at the end of development. It was a foundation we built everything else on top of.
Detailed workout logging with an exercise library, custom routines, and progress charts tied directly to each user's goals.
Barcode scanner with a database of over two million foods, full macro tracking, and meal suggestions based on daily activity.
Heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep stages, and stress scores pulled from wearable integrations and displayed clearly.
Secure in-app booking and encrypted video calls with verified healthcare professionals and certified personal coaches.
A single composite score that combines all tracked metrics into one number users can understand and act on each morning.
Contextual push notifications that nudge users at the right moment without feeling repetitive or intrusive.
A complete React Native health app built from the ground up
We designed and built the entire HealthTrack application for iOS and Android using React Native, giving users a consistently high quality experience on both platforms without the trade-offs that cross-platform mobile development often brings.
The app connects automatically to Apple HealthKit and Google Fit so existing health data flows in from day one without users needing to re-enter anything manually. The nutrition module includes a barcode scanner and a food database of over two million items. Vitals are read from popular wearables and surfaced in a single daily health score that gives users one clear number to focus on. The consultation layer is built with end-to-end encryption: users browse verified professionals, book a time, and join a video session without ever leaving the app.
Built for security, real-time performance, and long-term scale
React Native handled the cross-platform frontend. Node.js powered the API layer. MongoDB gave us the flexibility to store diverse health data structures without fighting a rigid schema. Firebase managed real-time sync and push notifications. AWS handled compute, storage, and the infrastructure requirements that come with HIPAA-aware health data. WebRTC powered in-app video consultations and Redis kept session performance fast under real-world load.
Users kept coming back and telling others about it
HealthTrack launched to early users who did not just open it once and move on. The feedback across early cohorts was consistent: it felt supportive rather than clinical, and people did not feel judged by what they saw on screen. That response came directly from the design decisions we made early about how information gets presented and when to show encouragement rather than just raw numbers.
The coaching and consultation feature turned out to be the single biggest driver of long-term retention. Users who booked even one session showed retention numbers more than three times higher than users who never engaged with it. That discovery has become the foundation of the client's growth strategy going forward.
